ISTITUTO COMPRENSIVO CASALINI

The Comprehensive Institute “Casalini” is in San Marzano, a little town near Taranto in South Italy. There are 117 teachers(both in primary and secondary school) and approximately 1.104 students (of whom 351 attend secondary school). All students and teachers know each other. Most of the students belong to low-middle class families and some of them move from the country by the school bus. Secondary school is provided with interactive boards and PC in all classrooms and there are ITC and Language Laboratories, there is also a “creative atelier” that teachers and students use for
digital outcomes . The whole school has the wireless connection and the access to Internet. The school offers different extra-curricular activities in fields of interest for the students: journalism, art, music, theatre. There are English certifications (Cambridge), different kinds of students competitions, seminars about various themes concerning citizenship, legality, health. The aim of the school to be fulfilled by the Erasmus+ project is: first of all, to create the basis for a deeper sense of belonging at local, national and European level by creating a space for dialogue; secondly, to provide an excellent
opportunity for pupils to experience active citizenship. promote common values, mobility, inclusive education and a European dimension of teaching; thirdly to give the students specialized competences and skills and, eventually, to improve the use of English as language of communication among the partners Since 2004 the Institute has organized activities and has implemented projects about inclusion by using new technologies but it has not much experience in European projects. This project offers the opportunity to share good practices which give different approach both to teaching and learning. It also gives a very good understanding of different cultures and increases the
awareness and knowledge of the differencies.
